"Once you started to pull the finest fabrics, bedding, tassels, applets, and designs, the focus..."

Drapes and window treatments are an extremely important element of an interior design. They complete the look of the room and tie everything together. Sometimes they may even become the focal point of a room, framing a breathtaking view from the window. Why settle for boring solid color tab top panels in a package when you can have drapes that are completely custom, designed with the look of your home and your style in mind?
Jann Wisdom has been designing custom drapes for over a decade. She can consult with you to help you pick the right fabrics, the right hardware, the right colors, and find just the right look for your home. Jann can see your project through from the initial sketch of the design concept right down to installing custom hardware and hanging your new drapes.
There are many factors that go into selecting a custom design to dress up your windows. Asking yourself the following questions will help you discover the type of drapes that will work best for you.
This is an important question to ask to help determine the right style and weight of the fabric. For instance, if it is a family room that doubles as a home theater, you will most likely want drapes that are very heavy to block the light, but have the ability to tie back during the day when the theater is not in use. If you need custom window treatments for a sun porch, you will probably want a very lightweight fabric to brighten up the room while taking advantage of the natural light.
The style of the room should help you determine the right hardware materials, fabrics, and patterns. Is it a formal living room that needs elegant velvet and crystal finials to give it a high class polished look, or is it a little girl's fairytale room with frills and bows? The design style of the room should dictate the style of the drapes so they coordinate with the rest of the interior. Using similar materials throughout the room will also help tie the design together.
The color of the drapes can make or break the design of a room. You should try to choose a color that will be complimentary to your wall color if you want the drapes to be a focal point of the room. If you want something subtler, you may want to choose a shade lighter or darker than your wall color to achieve a monochromatic look.
Although sheer window coverings are very fashionable, you probably won't want them in your bedroom or bathroom unless you plan on pairing them with heavier curtains.
It is always a good idea to sketch out your design or call on a professional interior designer to do so before investing in the materials so you can be certain you will be happy with the end result.
