Interior Design Services: Custom Painting

Jann Wisdom Designs can assist you with pulling together a color pallet for your home to beautifully complement your interior design. You may want to start with a blank slate and base a room's design around the paint color you desire, or if you have a fundamental design in place you can use custom paint to complete the look.
Custom painting techniques include faux painting, textured finishes, or simple usage of color to create interest. Here are some examples of what role a simple coat of paint can play in the design of your home:
- Creating Separation
Many people make use of custom painting to create visual separation within areas of a larger room. You may have a large great room where you want to define a living area, breakfast nook, and kitchen. Using a different paint color for each area, you can divide a room without walls.
- Controlling Natural Light
Painting with a monochromatic color pallet of very similar shades within the same room helps control the way natural lighting looks on walls. For instance, if you have a living area with several windows on only one side of the room, the wall opposite the windows may appear very bright in comparison to other walls when using the same paint color throughout the room. You can use color in shades slightly darker or lighter to make the color seem more consistent throughout the room and control the look of natural light against a wall.
- Stripes and Patterns
You can use custom painting techniques to make a wall look like a work of art. Creating stripes, patterns, or blocks of color adds visual interest to a room and can tie a home's interior together.
- Color Matching
If you have a special piece of furniture, artwork, or accessory in your home that you would like to accentuate, you may want to have a custom paint color created to match the piece. There are hundreds of paint colors available, but if you can't find exactly what you are looking for, you may want to consult your interior designer to see if she can have a custom mix created just for you.
